The International Cricket Council (ICC) has today (Tuesday) announced the schedule and venue of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Would like to tell that this year this event is going to be hosted by India.

From 5 October World Cup 2023 will start

 

The World Cup will begin with the match between England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad on 5 October while the final match of the World Cup will be played in Ahmedabad on 19 November.

 

India’s first match against Australia

 

Hosts India will begin their campaign against five-time World Cup winners Australia on October 8 in Chennai. While Australia will take on South Africa on October 13 in Lucknow.

A Great India-Pakistan contest

The India-Pakistan mega-match will be played in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 15 October. The last match between the two teams took place in the 2019 World Cup in Manchester in which the Indian team defeated Pakistan. Pakistan will take on Australia in Bengaluru on October 20, while England will take on South Africa in Mumbai the next day.

India will square off against New Zealand on October 22 at picturesque Dharamsala and Australia will take on arch-rivals England on November 4 in Ahmedabad. India will face England on October 29 in Lucknow. The last match of the group stage will be played between England and Pakistan in Kolkata on 12 November.

When are the semi-finals and finals?

The first semi-final will be held in Mumbai on Wednesday 15th November and the second semi-final will be held in Kolkata the next day. There will be a reserve day in both the semi-finals. The final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19 and November 20 has been kept as a reserve day.

A total of 10 teams will participate in the tournament

A total of 10 teams will participate in the tournament. India, Pakistan, England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League.

Eight teams have qualified

These 8 teams have already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The final two places will be determined at the end of the qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, which ends on July 9. Each team participating in the tournament will play all the other teams once in round robin matches. The top four teams in these will qualify for the semi-finals.

Competition will be held at 10 places in 46 days

 This time the World Cup matches will be held at 10 venues in 46 days. These include Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamshala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram will host warm-up matches from September 29 to October 3.
